A weekend where embraces matter and stereotypes are optional.
Berlin has a flourishing queer & open role tango scene, including the milongas Atípica, MilongAMIGA, Tango zum Glück, Weibermilonga and the annual Queertango Festival. It also harbors a diverse tango scene in general, with 4 to 11 milongas every day of the week. We invite you here, to return or to arrive for the first time, and to share your tango with us.
El Contrapunto is a tango marathon for queer and open role dancers of varying levels of experience and diverse styles of dancing. We value a social, cheerful atmosphere as well as a respectful ronda.

New Venue: Junges Tanzhaus Berlin
Our new home is also a historical building: It was built in 1850 as a brewery, because … what can you expect from this city?! The current inhabitant though, Junges Tanzhaus Berlin, is a newly opened space in Berlin-Neukölln, dedicated to a variety of dance forms and community participation.
Junges Tanzhaus focuses on bringing younger generations into dancing. While this is part of our own journey as well, we of course are looking forward to a mixed age group at the marathon. And having more space also means that we can potentially accept more dancers – while keeping the role balance and the shared intimacy of the event in mind.
A few more perks of the venue:
- Wooden dancefloor
- Space to relax indoor and outdoor (gallery, garden)
- Located next to a huge park (Hasenheide)
- Ventilation system
- Easy to reach by public transport (U Hermannplatz)
- Accessibility (e.g. elevator)
We are thrilled to call this beautiful venue the new home of El Contrapunto Marathon. For us it’s the perfect space for dancing, connecting and celebrating queer and open role tango. We can’t wait to fill it with your energy and your embraces!
Here’s a few preliminary pictures – more will follow when the venue is a little more settled with its new project. And no, no worries – that gray mat won’t be on the floor during the marathon.
DJs
Here are some of our 2026 DJs – the rest to be published soon!
Note that El Contrapunto features traditional tango music with tandas and cortinas. You’ll also listen to a tanda from a modern orchestra from time to time, depending on the DJ. But nuevo and non tango music is not our style.
Gökçe Ceren Haznedar

I’m a feeler, I try to connect with the dancers, the ever-changing vibe we create together in the room, and I play as spontaneaous as it gets accordingly. I love that we breathe in the flow of presence to the songs I get top bring together.
Fabiano Borretti

It was ‘love at first sound’ when Fabiano entered a room where Di Sarli was playing. From that moment on he started to collect, catalog and learn to dance the music that he loves, as a way to further express and enjoy its beauty and richness.
Fabiano has been musicalizing in mainstream and queer events for over 10 years internationally. When DJing, his focus is on making tandas live on the moment as the best way to respond to the dancers’ energy providing them with a wide palette of different moods and orchestral textures. For that he uses a large repertoire of the ‘evergreen’ tangos, valses and milongas from the orquestas we all know and love.
Maria August

As a DJ, Maria loves to offer a solid, pointed D’Arienzo just as much as a dark and airy Pugliese, while also letting the milonga live deeply in the nuanced middle range, as through Demare and especially Caló. She makes a conscious effort to include women’s voices without relying heavily on unknown material, and enjoys keeping tango even more alive with a tanda or two by contemporary orchestras.
Maria’s path to DJing tango grew naturally out of years of organizing and teaching. What began as curiosity and practicality soon became a deep practice: listening to music through the movement of dancers, and reading communities through their response to sound. Today, she DJs in Germany and internationally at milongas and marathons.
Vinyl DJ duo Zap & Hart

We are DJ HART and DJ ZAP.
With our selection of Tango vinyl we began to DJ local events. Nowadays, we are the Resident TDJs of the Berlin Milonga “Cafetín de Buenos Aires”.
Both of us come from Argentina, are milongueros and live in Berlin. We met in the vast Tango Argentino scene of the city. Lea Hart is a Tango bassist and singer. Paz studies Tango history, collects vinyl records from the Golden Age and organizes milongas.
Our musical style is 90% traditional (and evolving).
We love mixing cortinas. Rock, jazz, funk, pop, and electro are some of the genres we play the most.
Manu Sanz

What can I say? I like to play. I can also see how dramatic, difficult, and serious tango can be. But I prefer and choose the social, popular, and playful side of tango. That’s how I DJ: breaking rules and embraces, having fun with the part of being human I can relate to. See you in Berlin!
